Meeting Keith

Created by Janice 3 years ago

I can't remember the year now: it was too long ago. But I remember the event! I've known Keith for over 40 years. Meeting Debbie was certainly a life changer for him! He showed me the banner she had put up in his flat welcoming him back from holiday: a huge home made poster stretching right across the living room saying WELCOME HOME KEITH! He corrected me on this a few days ago. It said WELCOME HOME KEITH SPECIAL K!

Things were never the same for my good bachelor friend Keith. He had planned to sail around the world before meeting Debbie. He had taken all sorts of courses on navigation and things (as well as buying a boat). Well, he sold the boat and took up golf instead (seriously as always). Their wedding was a fairytale event. Debbie created a wonderful life and home for Keith and their children. At one point, during the heavy recession of the 1990's, Keith lost his job and they moved from a luxury home in the stockbroker belt to a two bedroomed flat in Deddington. I remember being gobsmacked by Debbie's elegance and calm confronted with this very difficult situation. She just got on with it, supporting the family with love and care.

And of course they bought the beautiful house opposite the flat as soon as Keith found a new job.

Debbie was the best thing that ever happened to Keith. I don't need to tell him: look at the wonderful life and family she created around her. This beautiful woman was always full of fun, very caring, very maternel. I cannot help but add that it is not fair that she couldn't be there to be the loving, perfect wife, mother and grandmother for the many more years she deserved.

Thinking of you all.
